How Do I Choose a LOCATOR Abutment?
A: To select the correct LOCATOR abutment, you’ll need to have the following information:
- Implant manufacturer
- Implant manufacturer system
- Platform diameter of the implant
- Tissue height (needed to select the correct cuff height)
For example:
- Implant Manufacturer: Nobel Biocare
- Implant Manufacturer System: NobelActive
- Implant Platform Diameter: 3.5mm Narrow Platform (Purple)
To determine the LOCATOR cuff height needed, you will need to know the tissue height from the top of the dental implant to the surface of the gingival tissue.
Using a periodontal probe, measure the height of the gingiva at the highest point and select the cuff height of the LOCATOR abutment that corresponds to that measurement. If it is 2mm, choose a 2mm cuff height. An additional 1.5mm of abutment height will extend above the gingiva to accommodate for the Denture Cap.
